Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Ten of my twenty students are between three to five years old. They have been identified with a special need and are on an Individual Education Plan. These needs include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language delays, Cognitive Delays, difficulty with Fine and Gross Motor Skills, along with other associated diagnosis. The additional ten students are typically developing Pre-K students.

All of my students are learning how to work cooperatively in the following areas: social-emotional, language, and literacy, fine and gross motor skills, adaptive behavior, and cognitive growth.

The school population is made up of all cultures and economic situations. The school provides free breakfast to all students and we offer free or reduced-price lunch for those who qualify. The teachers and administration present safe, working classrooms for all students to grow and develop in a collaborative atmosphere.

My Project

I am requesting aprons, paint and people colored craft paper so they can show off their artistic abilities through creative expression. The students in my class will use the paint materials to show off their creative expression along with the smocks to protect their clothing. In my high scope classroom, I allow students to be creative by providing them with materials, the rest is up to them.

Students will use the paint to represent artistic opportunities related to stories, nature, feelings, and expressions.

Students will be asked to tell about their finished projects as a show and tell activity. Finished projects will be framed and showcased throughout the classroom and used as gifts for their parents.
