My Project

My students love art, but when the supplies and budget run out so does the fun of creating. I have integrated literature into every elementary art lesson that I teach. We start off with a story in which the students have to play detective and decide what the art lesson will be. This helps the children become thinkers and problem solvers. We use a lot of recycled materials in my room as well. This helps the problem solving portion of our art, the "How can we create art with this material?" I love seeing the excitement of the students as they enter the art room and try to figure out what art is happening today. Having the basic supplies helps us stay creative. The more supplies, the more we create. The more we create, the more we access the creative side of the brain. The more brain we access, the better students we become. We think, create, solve, work together, help each other, and grow as a student and and artist.

Mrs. Thorne-Peoples will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 2.
