Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 70% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students love to learn and want to be successful, especially in math.

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in mathematics. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because its overwhelming for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills.

My Project

I believe that learning should be fun! My project includes Multiplication and Addition Math Write Wipe Boards. These easy-to-use math boards build math skills. The Visualize Write Wipe Boards cover different operations and provide multiple experiences to practice math. The Melon Rind Clumsy Thief Money Math Game and the Proof! game will provide the students with a fun way to apply the math strategies they have been learning. The Punch Card incentives will be used to reinforce good choices that the students make. The various office supplies, including ink and markers, will enable me to create individual learning materials. Overall, this project contains resources that my students can use and have fun with, all while deepening their understanding of mathematics.
