Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 70% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students love to learn and want to be successful, especially in math.

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in mathematics. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because its overwhelming for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills.

My Project

I would love to provide them with engaging activities to make learning math fun!

The 4 Way Countdown Game is a game that the students can play that focuses on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division strategies with a small group. The various Instant Learning Centers, including the Number Sense, Algebraic, and Problem Solving, will be a wonderful resource to differentiate their activities based on their needs. These are valuable resources that will reinforce the students' number sense and place value skills, as those are the basis for all of the other math skills that they will use throughout the year. The laminating pouches and additional ink cartridges would provide me with the materials to create personalized learning activities that each student needs.

Many students dislike math because it is overwhelming for them. By allowing them to use games and hands-on activities to strengthen their skills, it make learning math fun. Please consider donating to my project!
