Let’s Make Things with Lasers!

Help me give my students balsa wood and acrylic sheets that they can use with the laser cutter in our school’s STEAM lab, as well as other materials to support their learning experiences.

My Project

Our school has a new STEAM Lab, and I have been collaborating with our CTE teacher, Mr. Alvarado, to devise projects that give students in my science and health classes the opportunity to design, create, and build objects in our makerspace. In the past, my students have designed Healthy Choices cubes using cardstock, but now we have a means for them to make more durable objects out of wood or acrylic, increasing engagement.

This project will provide construction materials for students all of our classes (science, health, and CTE) to use throughout this semester, and hopefully into the new school year.

It will also provide basic supplies that allow for lesson flexibility and support the overall classroom environment.
