My Students

I work in the South Bronx and I provide speech therapy to students who range from ages 5-10 years old and who have special needs, specifically Autism. Many of my students face challenges every day with communicating both at school and in their communities. They each have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), which cater to their individual skills and needs, and allow them to receive services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.

My students learn and grow each day at school and they are always appreciative of new materials and learning opportunities!

My Project

I will be using these games and toys during my play-based speech therapy sessions to increase my students' expressive and receptive language skills in a fun and engaging way! My students learn best when they are in a playful and natural environment. I think these materials will be a wonderful way to incorporate their interests while also targeting their speech therapy goals. I can't wait to pair these games and activities with books or with themes that the students are focusing on in their classrooms. My students will be so happy when they see these exciting new additions to my therapy room!
