Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with students that have significant disabilities. They love to learn and participate but they need specialized resources to best access the modified curriculum. They enjoy utilizing a hands-on approach to learning and benefit from tactile and sensory supports.

My Project

These items will help my students learn and grow. The color exploration boxes will provide tangible items that can be sorted by color. The sensory items (therapy putty and light color mix) will be used to calm my students when they become overwhelmed or angry. The social and emotional book collection will help me to teach appropriate coping and social skills. The music shape sorter, tracing numbers and letter sponges will be used during instructional time to help students access their work. The sponges are especially helpful because I have several students that cannot grasp a pencil independently. With the letter sponges, they can just choose the letter and press it onto their paper. I will be able to use the TeacherPayTeacher's Giftcard to download modified content that fits their unique academic levels. I plan to purchase a daily activity binder that can be used to practice important life skills, like counting money, following a schedule and reading a calendar.
