Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school serves Pre-K students who are eager to learn. My students come from different backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Most of them are English Language Learners who have been fully immersed to learn a new language. They speak different languages including English, Spanish, Mandarin, Polish, and Urdu. One of our goals is to prepare students for success in kindergarten.

My students are my inspiration!!

I believe that each child is capable of achieving anything in this world. It is certainly a goal of mine to learn and grow with my class. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill the love of learning in my students.

My Project

Story time will become alive! These storytelling kits will encourage active participation in the library center. It will build critical language and literacy skills. Retelling stories with visual aids can be highly beneficial to English language learners. I have students who recently moved to the United States and I would love to give them the opportunity to interact with books by allowing them to reenact and learn new vocabulary by repeating the words. My students will use these materials to reenact the story, ask questions, and open their inner world of imagination. Listening and acting out stories enhances children's vocabulary. I want to help my students develop critical and active listening skills needed in the upper grades. In addition, I want them to fall in love with reading.
