My Students

Do you remember having game night with your family and friends? I know I do, and I still enjoy playing games. Many of my students don't have the opportunity to play board games, so I would like to bring these into our classroom to promote problem solving and critical thinking in math.

My students are very diverse, but they have one thing in common-they love coming to school and learning.

They especially love it when they are doing something they consider fun, and don't even realize they are learning. They love learning through technology and educational games. I try to supplement lessons with these two things whenever possible, because the kids enjoy it so much and it is a great way to differentiate for the students at all different levels.

My Project

Math games will help promote problem solving and critical thinking in our classroom. Students will have the opportunity to choose a game based on their need. The games range in topic from multiplication and division to geometry and problem solving. Students will be actively engaged in games that focus on an area in math they are struggling in. They will be interacting with their classmates and learning from each other at the same time. Students will be able to play the games throughout the year, so they can come back to the games and review topics they may be weak in. The games will also help to reinforce concepts they are learning everyday in math.

My students are inquirers, and love to learn.

Allowing them to explore math topics through games will help keep their curiosity alive while promoting important math skill development at the same time.
