Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When you are a child, nothing is more important to you than being acknowledged on your birthday. Many of my students come from homes with insecure finances, so birthdays are often filled with disappointments.

I want to give each student in my room a nice birthday present, so they feel ten feet tall on their special day!

Filling the gift bags with galaxy slime, a butterfly wind-up toy (that matches my classroom them of butterflies), a bubble wand, and candy will make each student feel like their teacher cares about them. The Galaxy slime is a sensory tool that can help my students focus in class. The butterfly wind-up today will help students develop their fine motor skills. The bubble wand will encourage a sense of wonder. Providing these materials will help each student feel "seen" on their birthday even if they don't receive a present at home.
