Help me give my students an annual subscription both digital and hard-copy of Scholastic News Choices magazine to assist with fun reading during distance learning!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our home away from home is made up of 30 of our very fabulous 6th scholars. Our mission to continue our growing love for literature is to explore other worlds of make-believe, courage, and perseverance through the art of reading and making positive connections with others.
“You can only understand people if you feel them in yourself.” –John Steinbeck
Our class focuses on learning social-emotional skills in order to strengthen relationships, practicing a growth mindset and the adventure that lives in the books. We do this with laughter, grace, fearlessness, and fun.
My Project
By having an annual subscription to Scholastic News Choices Magazines, it will give my newly fresh 6th grade scholars supplemental content for reading. Stories captured in these magazine related to students by topics, go in deeper understanding of what's happening in the world around them and broadens their minds to new perspectives.
Since we are learning virtually having a copy of the items we are learning can assist my scholars with additional skills we use while reading, such as close reading strategies, note taking and annotations.
It also exposes them to text features in a kid friendly way. Great way to hype up the learning!
