Let's Listen to a Story on the Toniebox!

My Project

Students in kindergarten love listening to stories. I've had a traditional listening center in my classroom for years, but I've moved away from using it, as most of the CDs were scratched, making it difficult for my students to listen to stories that they want to hear. I've been using classroom iPads in our listening center, and students are able to scan QR codes to listen to stories, but I would love listening to stories to be a screen-free experience for kindergartners. I've been researching the possibility of using a Toniebox, and everything that I have read suggests that it is easy for young kids to use and holds up well.

Adding a Toniebox to the classroom will allow students to select and listen to favorite stories being read to them out loud, without having to access a screen.

As the students will be listening to the stories being read orally, without a visual, it will be a good opportunity for them to practice keeping their attention focused on the story to grow their listening comprehension skills. This project will provide the Toniebox, a storage case, and 11 great tonies for us to start off with including favorites like Pete the Cat, The Gruffalo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!
