Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine being a Pre-K student arriving to school being language delayed and have little or no verbal communication skills. These sets of students attend a PRE-K Special Educational Program where they are serviced for speech and language, plus some also get serviced through an occupational therapist.

What most of these students have in common is that they are developmentally delayed and deserve to have an equal opportunity to be successful in life.

There are two role models, a few that have conditions such as autism, and or lack social skills.

My Project

This year the district bought the license to use Waterford in prekindergarten classrooms. My students are special needs and can be more successful with a touchscreen computer. Using a mouse proves to be very frustrating for most three and four year old children. The one computer we have for their use has a broken keyboard and a mouse that is extremely frustrating to them. With a touchscreen computer the 17 developmentally delayed, plus the two role models learning will lead to higher achievement. Our school is considered high poverty and the use of this technology device will ensure much success.
