My Students

My Ohio students are part of a literacy support program that helps struggling readers and writers gain the needed skills and strategies to become confident, independent learners.

Our students are enthusiastic, love to learn, have loads of potential, are diverse in many ways, and have some unique needs that keep me striving for fun and meaningful ways to accelerate their growth in reading and writing.

I thoroughly enjoy helping to foster a love of reading and writing that will benefit them for a lifetime.

My Project

One obstacle of in-person learning with young children is figuring out how to keep our environment and materials clean and safe for everyone. In an effort to do this, I have created individual kits for my students to house supplies, books, journals, etc.

Since we use magnetic letters often in lessons as a hands-on way to teach phonics, phonological awareness, spelling patterns, letter learning, and high-frequency words, I decided it would be best for students to have their own set.

An inexpensive way to keep them organized and easily accessible to students is to arrange them on metal stove top burner covers.
