This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students thrive to learn and improve! They love to learn in a variety of ways -- through art, music, physical education, and nature. They are always excited to learn new instruments and be their own musicians!

Our students constantly seek new musical experiences!

My Project

I am requesting 30 soprano ukuleles for my students. Typically, we use recorders to teach a lot of musical pedagogy and skills. However, this year we cannot play recorders due to COVID guidelines, including mask mandates.

Although we are starting bucket drumming, we are looking for an additional instrument to help supplement our music curriculum this year -- the ukelele!

Through ukulele playing, students in third through fifth grades will learn important musical concepts of string instruments such as chord shapes and strumming patterns. They will learn familiar songs on ukulele as well as become their own composers! Ukulele is an instruments that is very accessible to elementary students!
