Help me give my students an opportunity to develop a love of reading. We read short stories instead of novels. I would love to incorporate novels into our classroom to give the same results, just a different route.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The curriculum that we use in our classroom deals with a lot of short stories. While the curriculum is awesome, our scholars only get a small piece of a story instead of the entire story itself. It gives them enough to know what's going on, but not enough to really enjoy the true experience of reading the book in its entirety.

By purchasing these books, I plan to incorporate these novels into our curriculum, and try to introduce the true love of reading.

We will use the same standards, use the same teaching, just a reading piece that the scholars will actually enjoy reading. Reading isn't usually a favorite past time for 6th graders, but by utilizing these novels, I plan to change that. I can do so much more with
