My Students

My students are excited to learn. They love figuring things out and try their best day in and day out. The demands of the curriculum are large, but my students are rising to the challenge. I want to instill a love for learning at this very young age that will continue to grow through the years!

My students come from high poverty neighborhoods in our nation's capital.

School is a place of comfort and stability for each child who walks through the doors. Each day, all of the teachers put their best foot forward to ensure that our students are getting everything that they need. Our results show that we are a school that is successfully closing the educational gap and fostering the growth of students as intellectual thinkers.

My Project

I am requesting math materials for my students because when children learn through hands-on playing, it sticks with them. They internalize the concepts more easily and the math work becomes more natural for them. They will be using these math games and manipulatives during small group time. Some students will be meeting with a teacher to get more targeted instruction, while the other students can be engaged in meaningful and fun math learning.

My students will be excited to get more math materials and will be more engaged during our math block each day.

It will help reinforce concepts that have been taught in class and give students who need it, extra practice. Overall, it will strengthen our math block and foster a love of math in these young kindergarten minds.
