We said goodbye to our students, knowing they would be back in a couple of weeks after our spring break. We did not anticipate at the time that would be the last we would see them in person as first graders.
We took on the challenge of this new way of learning and teaching called e-learning.
Students are working and learning from different, familiar apps and platforms. We have weekly Zoom meetings to continue to foster the relationships and culture we built in the classroom. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to support and guide their children.
My Project
E-learning or learning from home is a real possibility even going into the next school year. School officials are devising plans should this be the case. While we certainly want to be back in the classrooms, the safety and wellness of our students is top priority.
Help me to bring materials home so that my lessons will be engaging and effective.
While teaching small group reading, the pocket charts will help display the words the students are learning. The mobile whiteboard will allow me to teach and model writing. We can continue looking at our number of the day and build number sense with the magnetic number of the day chart.
