My Students

I work in an area where most of my student's families make less than $12,000 a year. My students are eager to learn and want to learn using the hands-on inquiry approach. My school is located in a very high poverty area where all of my students receive free lunch and struggle to have basic supplies for school. My school is in the process to become a STEAM designated school. My hope is that STEAM projects will inspire the students to become leaders, learners and high achievers.

My Project

My students are going to use these materials to learn about electricity. The Snap Circuits will allow the students to explore and be creative in their learning using safe circuit materials. They will be able to explore closed and open circuits while having fun. The motors, battery cases, switches and batteries will allow the students to create a Wobble robot. What a fun and hands-on way to learn about electricity. These hands-on activities will be part of the engineering process for our new STEAM program. The students will create their robot's body and then using what they have learned to wire the pieces together to make it move. They will be so excited watching their robots move around.
