This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My high school students are coming into high school for the first time in September. It is the start of their educational careers that will be counted towards what they want to do in the future. Forensic Science is a new class that I have started teaching recently, and it would be wonderful to have students apply what they are learning, to REAL LIFE examples using these materials. They will see beautiful forensic science cut out images all over the classroom walls. Students will be able to use materials such as popsicle sticks, straws, glue and puppy pads to create 3D structures and burn them as we tack on the arson unit. Students will be able to pick out evidence from make shift crime scenes, and tell us about blood splatter as we make fake evidence using the fake blood. They will also be able to draw their own crime scenes on our tables using the gel markers, or a human body during our autopsy unit, to show us their understanding of what they are learning. We can organize their projects in the assorted bins and folders so that they are easy to find as they continue these projects. Wipes and erasers would be needed to make sure clean up is fast and safe. Lastly, treats would be awesome to give them as they answer correct questions in class as a way for extrinsic motivation. They will have many activities connecting science to the real world. This is extremely important for students to know that they are seen and can be scientists too.
