My Students

My scholars are International Baccalaureate students at an urban inner-city high school. Our curriculum is both diverse and rigorous. We strive to provide high-quality education to students from all walks of life. My classroom is project-based, and scholars lead their own learning with guidance and examples from both me and other professionals in the field. Fulfilling goals set by them for them help my scholars learn the importance of independence, leadership, and free thinking.

Scholars in Humanities classes practice important skills for college and career: reading comprehension, analysis, synthesis, negotiation, and argument.

The class topics today include History, U.S. Government, and Economics, but the skills these scholars develop will go well beyond the classroom to help them become strong citizens tomorrow.

My Project

My students spend much of their high school careers preparing for rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations at the end of their senior years, not to mention tests like SAT and ACT. In order to prepare, we need to practice test-taking strategies and reproduce a similar testing environment as best as possible. These young scholars live in a digital world where distractions constantly vie for their attention. These materials will allow us to practice answering questions at a fast pace with dry erase boards and allow us to practice depth with using note pads on tests (which are used on their official exams later). A printer will help us to react quickly on the fly when needed. These materials will help us with basic materials that will go a long way to support learning.
