My Students

How would you define a bully? How do bullies act? How can I stand up against a bully? These are some of the questions I would like my students to be familiarized with.

I teach 550 students over a 2 week period of time.

I teach kindergarten all the way to 5th grade. Many of the students come in, not speaking the language so may react instantly in a negative fashion toward another classmate. I go into classes every week giving lessons on bullying. My students are all from different backgrounds and cultures. My school is considered a "Title 1 School". This means that every student in our school receives free lunch due to their families income. Many of my students do not understand the concepts of negative comments that are made that escalates to a bully situation. Reaching out to the different cultures and allowing them to understand it is OK to be different and not react to the negative points of an individual is the goal I would like to reach.

My Project

The books Bullying In Schools, Bully B.E.A.N.S, Don't Be a Bully, Billy, The Orge Bully, Amelia's Bully Survival Guide, Confessions of a former Bully, Bears and The Bully are all made for different levels of instruction. Books such as Bully B.E.A.N.S, The Orge Bully, and Berenstain Bears and The Bully are wonderful for the younger students I teach. As for books like Bullying in Schools, Amelia's Bully Survival Guide, and Confessions of a former Bully could be used for my older students. Bully Free Bulletin Boards, Posters and Banners will be a wonderful impact on the students and great decorations for when we display our work on anti-bullying. All of the books in general, will help me develop lessons that will lead to great class discussions and enthusiastic chatter on the topic of bullying. The Espon DC Document Camera is what will really get my classes excited, interested, and focused about the topic. The document camera will allow a great clear display of the books!

Your donation to this project will make it possible for my students to begin needed discussions about bullying, see the negative effects and identify ways we can stop it.

With your help the kids of today will know the difference between wrong and right. This will help make a bully-less society. By children understanding the affects of bullying at a young age, it will help them become passionate and show empathy towards one another. Help the children of today become better citizens of tomorrow!
