This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my preschool for all learners class, we work with three to five-year-old children of varying ability levels with IEPs. During our daily routines, we have teacher-led group activities and child-directed free choice play experiences that are individualized to each student’s abilities and needs.

My students come from low-income households and a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

My students love hands-on material and visuals that inspire learning and curiosity. They are very creative, fun-loving, and enthusiastic learners. Unfortunately, sometimes it is difficult to provide them with all the help and material they need because of a lack of resources at home and in the classroom. In March of 2020, our district went to distance learning, and students and their families struggled to maintain their learning environment without the proper resources commonly found in the classroom.

My Project

As you all know we will be starting the new school year online. Unfortunately, most of the families I work with do not have the resources at home to help their children succeed and complete play-based projects. My project will help my students receive the material that we use in the classroom but they do not have at home. Having access to this material will also take some of the financial burdens off their parents.

The material that I am asking for will help my students develop fine motor skills through art and exploration.

The access to arts and crafts supplies like glue, crayons, paint, brushes, stamp markers, craft feathers, pompons, pipe stems, macaroni, noodles, and foam shapes will allow my students to be creative while developing their art and fine motor skills. These supplies will give my students access to resources that they would typically have in our classrooms.

My students need one-on-one and hands-on teaching and through distance learning their parents have had to take over the job of teaching their children with the little resources they have at home. I would like to provide all my students with art supplies they can use at home to help their parents have as many resources as they can while we work together to give their children the best distance learning education possible.
