Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The 2021-2022 year will be back in school full time! For most of my students, this will be their first year of school, so my job is to make it the best. Every student also qualifies for free breakfast and lunch every day. My school is full of great students, parents, teachers, staff, and administration. We work together to make sure each child is getting the best education they can! We all become family at our school!

My Project

My students this year are coming into the classroom not knowing many letters or sounds. The more letter recognition ways for these kids to learn the better. The magnetic letters, write the letter activity center, and letter recognition instant learning center will help my students work with their letters. These will be used in small groups and small letter center for students to help them succeed with their goal of learning their letters. (RF.K.1d)

The more they practice the better they will get.

In my calming corner, I want to provide different activities to help students to relax. A lot of my kids need a break, they have had a tough past couple of years at home, and sometimes they need a break. Having a mini iPad and case with a sand timer to mark the time they are in the calming corner will help them. The iPad mini will have different learning apps that will help with letters, sight words, emergent reading apps, and our school program like Lexia that helps with reading skills. (RF.K.4, RF.K.2a, RF.K.2b, RF.K.2d, RF.K.3c, RF.K.3a). Whiteboards and erasers will be used for everything in my class, from reading to writing to math. Students need the writing lines to learn how to write the letters, sight words, and writing a sentence the correct way. They will have the blank side to use for math skills like rolling the dice and writing the numbers or adding and subtracting. (RF.K.3c, L.K.1a, L.K.2a, K.CC.A.3, K.OA.A.1)
