My Students

My new second graders are eager learners who are quite energetic and curious. I would like to provide my students with play materials that will enrich them both socially and cognitively. Play-Doh will provide these integrated learning experiences for my students.

This year, I work with 27 students on a daily basis.

Our inner city school is in the heart of an extremely diverse community. We are a Title 1 school and 100% of our students are on the federal free meal plan. Many students arrive to school and most continue to stay at school until 6:00 pm. Our school is their home away from home.

My Project

With your generous support, I know that Play-Doh will bring my students many learning opportunities as they engage in creating sculptures. The materials will increase language development because the nature of Play-Doh is interactive. While using their imaginations to create setting and characters with Play-Doh, they need to listen, speak, and practice their oral communication skills. In addition, I can model academic language of math and science through the use of Play-Doh. What a wonderful way to promote teaching and learning. Most importantly, it's fun for all.

In short, Play-Doh will not only fire up the students' imaginations and creativity, but the act of playing with this material will help expand learning experiences socially, emotionally, and academically.
