Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Working in a school with over 900 students, I am blessed to be able to welcome 40 kindergarteners into my classroom each day. My school is made up of more than 70% of English Language Learners and our diverse students speak Spanish, Arabic, Swahili, and over 15 other languages. They come to us from around the globe, ready to learn and to share their cultures and experiences.

My students, in particular, are a part of a newly implemented dual language program, where their instruction is 50% in English and 50% in Spanish every day.

We learn through thematic units and my students are challenged to read, write, and think critically each and every day. They are scientists, mathematicians, readers, writers, thinkers, and DREAMERS!

My Project

At our school, we are lucky to enough to have access to wonderful technology such as iPads and Chromebooks. However, my students do not have appropriate fitting headphones to be able to work independently. Without headphones, the noise is distracting to others who are working in small groups or one on one with the teacher.

The headphones that we currently have break easily or do not fit the tiny heads (but big brains) of my students.

By receiving new, child-fitting headphones, we will be able to successfully work on our tablets during literacy and math centers.

Technology is such an essential part of learning. In order to ensure the most success for my students, we are asking for your help!
