Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 2018, our school was gifted a playground by DonorsChoose. I am very grateful for all the donations that allowed our pre-k students to grow their gross motor skills and strengthen their hands and legs. Six years have passed, and we are in dire need of a new playground.

Recess is not just a break, it's the most essential part of our day!

Every day, we take our pre-k students outside for 30 minutes to exercise and build gross motor skills. This outdoor time is crucial for their physical and social development. Our school now serves both 3k and pre-k, and a new playground would greatly enhance their daily routine.

The playground will help our students develop hand-eye coordination and body awareness. Rock climbing builds confidence and self-esteem. The children may have been afraid, but they did it and reached the top. It also increases concentration and focus because they need to make a decision with every foothold and climb. Swinging helps students' brains organize spatial information, such as realizing where their bodies are in relation to their surroundings. The slide will allow students to practice social skills like sharing and taking turns.
