My Project

My classroom consists of special needs students as well as typically learning students. My students range in age from 2.6 - 5 years old and have a range of challenging developmental delays, which include autism, severe communication delays, motor delays and social emotional delays. They are from the inner-city and many of the students do not have exposure to developmentally appropriate materials in their daily lives. My students are very special to me and because of that, I want to be able to provide all my students with materials that can benefit their developmental growth. My special needs students need lots of support, they are very busy. Having the right seating will help them be aware of their movement and help them engage in daily activities to enhance their development in the preschool classroom. The chairs are easy to manipulate and can adjust to 3 sizes which is appropriate to the needs of my early learners. The chairs will adapt to our growing students and help meet their motor abilities.

The sensory storage table and sensory materials will allow me to offer my students developmentally appropriate materials to meet the needs of all my special needs and typical learners.

My students face a great number of challenges and having materials to help engage them in learning will benefit their cognitive development as well as their motor development. They love to have things in their hands and to be able to provide them with developmentally appropriate tools would be a blessing to both them and myself.
