This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I aim to provide my scholars with a magical school year filled with many hands-on learning experiences! This school year, I am focusing on reimagining literacy small groups to be more skills-based. The Rime Magic program will allow me to provide an explicit and systematic review of phonics skills for my 2nd graders. This will help them strengthen their foundational literacy skills. Additionally, the Play-Doh, letter stamps, builder cards, crayons, and markers will allow me to provide a multi-sensory experience for scholars to practice spelling high-frequency words and different phonics patterns.
Our hands-on learning experiences will not stop in language arts class because it will also continue throughout our math and science classes!
Second-grade math focuses on laying the foundation for place value and money. The large magnets of place value blocks and money will give my scholars an interactive experience while learning math. Lastly, the growth life cycle pack will provide a model and real-life pictures that I can share with my scholars to enhance their learning of the plant life cycle.
