My Students

Our students are diagnosed with Autism and in need of supplies to learn functional life skills that help them to become more independent in their everyday lives. These supplies are for our students who have severe and profound developmental disabilities and who are diagnosed with Autism. Our students with Autism in particular, need to become proficient in topics related to cleaning, clerical tasks, landscaping and gardening, property maintenance, food preparation and self-care skills. Many of our students are non-verbal and come here to learn formal methods of communication through sign language, picture symbols and voice output devices. Our students range in age from 14 – 21.

My Project

My students work in our school garden gaining experience and knowledge of how to maintain a garden. With the return to in-person learning, our garden supplies are limited. The items we are requesting will help continue the sense of responsibility posed by gardening, continue math and science education as well as provide healthy eating options for families. We will also be able to expand our garden and create new spaces for fruits, vegetables, and herbs to grow. We will also be able to add bird houses to our bird sanctuary.
