Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is partnering with EF Tours to give students the chance to travel to Greece in two years, enhancing their educational experiences through cultural immersion. To support this, we seek funding for supplies for fundraising activities. Over 90% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches, and more than 75% are minorities, with many being English Learners (EL). We plan several fundraising activities. A local artist will teach a painting class for which we need 100 8x10 canvases. Our STEM class will design an 18-hole mini-golf course, requiring wristbands, STEM supplies, and 18 golf clubs and balls. Additionally, students will set up photography sessions and booths, needing photography supplies and props. These efforts will directly benefit the students' travel accounts.

The requested resources will enable students to engage in hands-on activities that foster art, economics, creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurship.

Painting classes will help students express creativity, and selling their artwork will teach them the value of their skills. Designing a mini-golf course will enhance problem-solving abilities and apply STEM principles. The finished course will also be a fundraiser. Photography supplies will support the GT Photography class and real-world fundraising efforts.

Our students are remarkable for their resilience and eagerness to learn despite socioeconomic challenges. Their diversity brings rich cultural perspectives, fostering a unique learning environment. Research shows that students who travel abroad gain academic and personal benefits, such as enhanced global awareness, improved language skills, and increased independence. These experiences broaden their perspectives, making them more adaptable and prepared for the future.

Funding these supplies will support our students' educational journey, allowing them to engage in enriching activities and transformative travel experiences. Your support will help ensure that all students, regardless of financial background, can explore the world and their potential within it.
