My Students

My students are great kids who love to work with their hands. Being outdoors in a natural setting is where they thrive and learn best.

My students are inner-city kids who rarely have access to the natural world.

Their initial foray into the world of agriculture has been a great success so far. They have built raised beds and planted vegetables, planted fruit trees, installed a maintained a pristine pond filled with Koi and maintained a lovely courtyard that has become an oasis among brick and asphalt.

My Project

My students will be working with the Pa Fish and Boat Commission and Pa Trout Unlimited to raise trout in the classroom. The trout will ultimately be released into the Pa river system in time for opening day of fishing season.

The project requires several pieces of expensive equipment which we have already purchased, but we are still in need of the tank.

This project will target so many objectives! Students will have a 1st hand study of the life cycle of fish, learn about the ecosystems of the Pa rivers, and serve the community of residents who dunk a line in the water with their children and grandchildren. Students will learn responsibility, care of other living creatures, and the excitement of releasing their fish into the river.
