My Students

My students are bright, energetic and fervent readers. Reading is encouraged and supported daily in my class and my students love that quiet time to delve into a book of choice. We enjoy time to express our thoughts in deep discussion of our reading, share connections and simply explore the many different avenues reading and writing takes us to.

These kids LOVE to read.

You'll find them reading under desk, on the desk, spread out with pillows on the floor, in bean bag chairs and even sneaking a peak during instruction. By the way, that IS NOT recommended! Reading helps build vocabulary, creativity and analytical thinking. It's a great start to build from.

My Project

My students want to have access to books they want to read when they want to read it. Adding to my classroom library will allow them time to choose and read high interest, engaging books comfortably in the room during class.

Books, books and more books!

Providing students access to updated reading materials keeps them reading. We must never underestimate the power of a well stocked library and great books to read. When students have immediate access to great reading material, it's easy to grab a book, nestle in a comfy spot, and enjoy some quiet reading time.

A variety of books provides culturally diverse reading material for all students. Students can choose a topic of interest for their companion book reading, where they analyze a character's actions and behaviors to develop writing about characters and how their actions impact the outcome of a story.
