My Project

As an SLP, I work with high school students to achieve their academic and post-secondary goals. At the secondary level, I often encounter students who have essentially given up on themselves and their learning. Either they find the material too difficult, or they lack the necessary skills to access the information being taught. One of my main objectives each year is to help students acquire the semantic knowledge needed in order to access the curriculum. This can prove to be difficult if students haven't "bought-in" to their learning.

Infercabulary is an online platform that teaches semantic reasoning and critical thinking through the use of visuals and games to support the acquisition of vocabulary.

I plan to use this program during therapy sessions to support students' engagement all while targeting necessary vocabulary skills and development. It would also greatly help those with limited reading proficiency as it relies heavily on instruction and interaction through visuals. This program is also wonderful at supporting the understanding of multiple-meaning words through pictures. Having a depth of semantic knowledge is paramount in comprehending the literary devices that students encounter when reading.

Infercabulary has been featured in a variety of news articles, podcasts, TED Talks, and learning platforms. It has also received various awards and accolades. With your donation, I will be able to give my students the gift of vocabulary in a way that is revolutionary to our time!
