Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in Holyoke, MA. Many of my students are from low income and poverty households. Recently we have received many students from Puerto Rico due to the hurricane. Our school was taken over by the state two years ago because of poor student performance. Many of our students come to school excited and ready to learn.

I want to provide the best learning environment for my students and really want to provide an avenue for careers in science.

My Project

This project will cover the cost of admission to the Connecticut Science Center so my students can experience the Sight and Sound exhibit, along with the Picture of Health, and The Sports Lab exhibits. For many of my students they may never experience a visit to a museum and travel beyond Holyoke.

I want my students to be able to have experiences that other students in Western Massachusetts have access to.

Since becoming the Grade 5 & 6 Lead Science Teacher, my focus has been on engaging my students with exciting and real world science experiences. A field trip would be the next level of a larger than life learning experience.
