This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students always try to keep a smile on their faces. I teach a 6th grade class, where many of the students are first-year English Language Learners. The second class is a 6th grade dual language class. Both set of student are unique individuals with a passion to learn.

How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

There are 45 amazing students in my 6th grade math class who come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch. This year, there is a high percentage of students who are living in shelters. The school serves grades 6-8 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment. As a school, we focus on our students academic, social and emotional growth. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college.

My Project

We have to make the best of Distance learning. As any other teacher, I would love to be back in the classroom, but it is unsafe. With the technological devices and accessories, I will be able to provide my students with the best remote learning I can offer.

The technological devices and accessories will allow me to plan interactive and engaging lessons for students during remote learning.

With the stylus pen I can provide feedback to my students through annotations on the iPad. Distance Learning requires multiple screens to fully help and interact with students. The iPad holder stand and monitor stand will allow me to use my laptop, monitor and iPad while keeping a clean work area.
