My Students

Teaching kindergarten science lessons and a learning environment full of energy and enthusiasm naturally go together. Unfortunately, science is not allotted the same amount of time that other subjects are in school. That is why it is hard for my students to truly enjoy learning about science.

I have a kindergarten class of about 16 young, little Einsteins.

They are ready and willing to dive into some experiments, explore with their minds and hands, and learn about the wonders of science all around them. We are a Title I school which means a majority of our students are on Free/Reduced Lunch. Many of my little ones love to explore (what 5 year old doesn't?). I want to give them an opportunity to do so with some new and updated science materials and resources.

My Project

Elementary school students learn science best when they are involved in first-hand exploration and investigation and inquiry/process skills are nurtured. I feel that Kindergarten students value science best when they are provided with different modes of learning to accommodate the many different learning styles there are in a classroom. The materials I requested will provide opportunities for my students to take what I have taught them through teacher lecture, lessons, videos, experiments, and observations, then use those skills in my new Self Discovery Science Center. Science allows students to explore their world and discover new things. It is also an active subject, containing activities such as hands-on labs and experiments. Please, help my students get the Lakeshore Magnet Lab, Big Screen Microscope, Sink or Float Exploration Kit, and much more.

Understanding science helps children learn to think and solve problems while questioning the world around them.

What's better than having students learning the answers to their own questions. Elementary school students are naturally curious, which makes science an ideal subject for them to learn. Your donations will help spark that curiosity and will further their science knowledge. Who knows I just might have the next Issac Newton or Marie Curie in my class.
