Help me give my students new equipment for our school's playground. We need more hula hoops, basketballs, and throwing games so everyone on the yard can get some exercise during recess.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with a diverse group of students with disabilities in a special day class program. My school is a Title I school in a low-income neighborhood where most of the families struggle to meet their basic needs. Many of my students struggle to learn new concepts without the use of hands-on materials to help them learn.
My Project
Currently the students at my school are having to share a limited supply of basketballs, bean bags and hula hoops with all of their classmates and will often get bored while they are waiting for a chance to play during recess and P.E. Making sure students are actively engaged is an essential component in motivating them to exercise and keep healthy.
The products that I have selected will help all of the students at my school by giving them additional equipment so that everyone has the opportunity to exercise and participate during recess and P.E.
I have noticed amazing differences in my own students when they are given enough equipment so that everyone has a chance to play and exercise when they are outside. When they come back inside, they make better choices, are more engaged, and get more work completed.
