My Students

People often ask me why I commute so far away to teach when I could work in a much more affluent community closer to where I live. The simple answer is because I have never been a happier teacher than when I'm with my students. They make me smile, laugh, sing and dance, and challenge me every day.

There are five different primary languages in my homeroom this year.

The entire district receives free breakfast and lunch due to high poverty levels, they make me exhausted, and make we want to do more and there's nowhere else I'd rather be.

My Project

In our first grade classroom, we spend a part of our day trying to teach the kids how to stay organized and keep track of their materials. Since they're 6, that means that we spend much too much time attempting to put things away, and then even more time trying to find it again the next day.

With this project I will be able to help my students keep all of their things in a safe and convenient space.

My student desks are mostly open space underneath so they are constantly losing things as they fall through the holes, these pencil cases will help so that I don't have to hear, "I lost my pencil", "I can't find a marker" and "Can I have an eraser?" 742 times a day (With your help, maybe it will only be 737 times a day)

I would like to use the bins to have my students have constant and easy access to reading materials at their team groups and in our classroom library. I also want to give the students a set of classroom mailboxes that will allow them to keep their papers safe and ready when it's time to go home. I would like to thank you for your consideration and support, it is so truly appreciated!
