My Students

In my classroom, we recite The Learner’s Creed every day: “I believe in myself, and my ability to do my best. I will think. I will listen. I will read. I will write. I will do all these things, with one purpose in mind. To do my best, and not waste this day. For this day will not come any more.”

As a teacher in a Title I school, I am very aware that many of my students are facing hardships.

Children living in temporary housing, that come to school hungry, and do not have the basic tools needed for their education.

Despite any obstacle they may face, when my students walk through my classroom door they are a scholar! I continue to provide student-centered, rigorous instruction aligned with standards-based learning activities. These are the future leaders of our world. We must support them to rise to their highest potential!

My Project

The folder system of organizing our work has not been successful since most students either don't have folders or "lose" them.

We have so much paperwork in our class that it's literally spilling out of the children's desks!

It's time to organize all those papers into file folders so we can easily access them.

We also do a lot of work that requires cutting and gluing. Not every student has a pair of scissors so this set would ensure that each student could begin their work and not have to wait to borrow scissors. We certainly go through lots of glue sticks so having a stock pile would be really useful!
