This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"In the middle of every difficulty, lies opportunity!" -Albert Einstein Everyday several of my students arrive to school with limited resources. I want to help their organization and give them a neat way of submitting Math work on-line in order to compete with a tech savvy world!

My students are vibrantly full of energy and personality.

They come from a variety of backgrounds and unfortunately have limited access to quality resources and supplies in their neighborhoods. My school aims to challenge students with a rigorous curriculum so that students are ready for high school and beyond but some students lack the organizational skills or appropriate tools to have a chance to succeed. They love technology and are engaged by its different uses in the classroom.

My Project

I am requesting a Neat Scanner because one problem that I encounter is that students do not always keep their work. This makes it difficult for them to make connections from old ideas to new. I keep a portfolio of major assignments in the classroom but even that does not help with students keeping homework and daily applications in order. The students will be using the scanner to create digital copies of their work that they can store on-line through Google classroom and other platforms in order to organize a digital portfolio. Students will also participate in a "live classroom" where they can post their work or questions in order to receive and offer feedback to each other. Being able to scan in class will allow them to do this without taking away from much instructional time by trying to type in Mathematical algorithms and symbols. The laminator will help preserve some of those other resources (graphic organizers, checklists, hints) that students use on a daily basis.

My classroom will improve with this scanner and laminator because students will now be able to quickly submit by scanning and sending their work.

This will allow me to spend more time teaching and facilitating activities instead of using instructional time to check over work. I also want to create a culture where students share their work so that other classmates can offer feedback and I think scanning their work in order to post on-line will make this possible.
