My Students

My students are busy bees who love to learn, but need to balance classroom learning with physical activity to burn off excess energy using a variety of P.E equipment(balls, hula hoops, jump ropes).

My student's come from over 5 cultural backgrounds and a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.

Even though they have many differences, they all have one thing in common, their desire to learn. Our school is considered a low income school. We receive very little funding from the state. We receive only text books. Learning comes from more than just reading books. Learning happens when you bring the information to life. So we rely on donations from teachers, parents and the community to provide supplies and materials to provide a stimulating learning environment.

My Project

Students will use the balls, hula hoops, and jump ropes donated mainly for physical education. We currently have only one ball that we must use creatively during P.E. With this new equipment, students will be able to participate in team building activities, such as a variety of races and obstacle courses, play group sports, such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and work on developing motor skills (ex: shooting baskets and jumping activities using jump ropes). Students will also be able to use this P.E equipment during recess. This will allow students to be active and entertained. They'll be less likely to get into trouble.

Childhood obesity is on the rise!

I believe it's my job to educate the entire student, mind and body. Having a variety of P.E equipment (balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, and bean bags) will teach students that exercise can be fun! My goal is for the fun exercises to carry over in their daily lives for years to come.
