My Project

Our 7th grade Student Voice group, CoCreate, identified a need at our school and brainstormed a solution. They noticed that there aren't enough activities or equipment for when they are outside during lunchtime. They expressed this concern to our administration but didn't leave the solution up to others. They began to proactively work towards securing funds to purchase equipment for outdoor fun. This donor's choose project is one way they are working to enrich their outdoor experience. We are inviting you to join them in this endeavor.

These play experiences help bring equity, one of our core values, into our learning environment by providing for the felt needs of our students.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that recess benefits students by increasing their level of physical activity. Improving their memory, attention, and concentration. Helping them stay on-task in the classroom.

Additionally, our school has as a core value; belonging. We work to provide a myriad of spaces for belonging throughout the school day. During lunch our students can choose from our DEN (student center), our Computer Lab, sports club in our Gym, our outdoor play space, or a variety of lunch clubs. We recognize the importance that a sense of belonging has on the overall well-being of a student. Play equipment will enhance our outdoor space for students who find their belonging through playful and active engagement with peers. Thanks so much!
