My Students

Our students love to learn! They dive into concepts and explore new ideas with eagerness and energy. When you walk into our school students are engaged in projects, reading, writing and problem solving. Our school has over 20 languages that are spoken. It is common to have more than 4 languages in a classroom. Our linguistically diverse community is special. Many of our students are acquiring English as a new language. Much of this work is done within a content learning area where vocabulary can be challenging. Our students need individualized supports.

My Project

Chrome books will connect our students to new learning opportunities and to each other. This project of 3 Chrome books, will benefit students in reading and math with providing supplementary online learning instruction and developing research skills. We will use Imagine Learning, which is literacy based and Xtra Math, which develops math fact fluency. These programs are entirely web-based and engage students in high-interest activities that develop essential skills, including academic vocabulary development, through technology. In addition, programs like Brainpop and PebbleGo will be incorporated to teach research.

When students have access to web-based learning, we are not only supporting their learning of today but preparing them for tomorrow.

Google classroom is an innovative platform to organize inquiry work. The usage of Google applications such as, Google doc and Google slide, develop word processing skills. By learning these skills, students will be engaged in the content study and will be acquiring life skills.
