This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the excitement of your first hands-on learning experience? You can help my students achieve that same feeling with a netbook.

I teach 3rd grade in a high-need community.

My class consists of a cultural diverse group of students, most of which are English Second Language Learners. There are many different levels of learning, ranging from below to above grade level standards.

My Project

Having a netbook will allow me to begin creating an unbelievable interactive learning environment for these students. I had received a mimio as a prize during an educators conference and am unable to use it without a computer capable of running the interactive software. This will give me the opportunity to teach whole group lessons that will engage all of my students. This netbook will be used to differentiate lessons for my ESL and high risk students. It will also allow students to explore and be engaged in interactive learning , on sites such as Google Earth in a small group or independent environment.

Since most of my students in my class lack technology resources in their home environment, I feel it is important for them to have access to technology like this in the classroom.

The introduction and the ability to use such technology will broaden their abilities to learn and to succeed outside the classroom.
