My Project

I am teaching in northeastern Oklahoma, I work with a diverse group of students, many of whom are two grade levels behind in their reading development. Many of these students were significantly impacted by the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused them to miss critical support and instruction in the classroom.

To address these challenges, I am focusing on small-group interventions that target the specific needs of my students.

One key area of focus is reading fluency. Fluency is a crucial skill for students to develop in order to build reading comprehension and gain confidence in their abilities. By practicing with fluency passages, students can improve their reading speed, accuracy, and expression, which will directly support their overall academic progress.

With a $100 gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers, I plan to purchase fluency passages that are specifically designed to meet the needs of students who are struggling and working below grade level. These materials will allow me to work more effectively with small groups, providing differentiated instruction that targets each student’s current skill level.
