Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so lucky to spend my days with 25 of the most curious, kind, gregarious, and inspiring first graders I've ever known. They enter my classroom wide-eyed and eager to learn every day. With such a motivated group of learners, my days are so fun and rewarding as a teacher.

My students do not let obstacles stand in their way.

Our school is over 90% free/reduced lunch receiving students, but their attitudes would never give you any indication of that. My students do not let such things define them; they are hard workers, inquisitive thinkers, and tenacious learners. Our school works tirelessly to strive for greatness, and I aim to embody this ideal in my classroom every day. I keep high expectations for my students, and they still manage to surprise me with their incredible achievements every lesson.

All children are deserving of a world-class education, and my students are no exception. Quality school supplies to enable and enhance their learning can be great financial hardships for my students' families. This is why I am asking for your help.

My Project

Flexible seating, or giving children options for different places to sit during learning time, is becoming more common in classrooms. Not every learner likes to sit in a traditional chair at a traditional desk. I would love to be able to offer my students some great new choices for seats in our classroom. Not only will students be more excited to learn in a fun seat, but they will be more focused because they are more comfortable. Another added bonus to flexible seating is it helps kiddos get their wiggles out and focus on their learning!

My students would benefit greatly from having some flexible seating options in our classroom.

. The soccer ball pillows will allow my students to pick a comfy spot on the carpet to work, or they can choose to put a pillow on their chair to cushion it. The wobble stools will be great for my students who like to move while they work- as the name implies, these chairs kind of "wobble" around and let the child safely tilt around while sitting. The roller chairs will be helpful because they are on wheels, so students will be able to quickly and easily move from one area of the room to the next, aiding in collaboration with peers.
