My Students

My class is a class of 28 enthusiastic learners who come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Our classroom is our home away from home. We all come together as a community for lessons and fun activities. However, our resources are limited. We are in need of tools to help meet the needs of each individual learner in our classroom.

In our classroom, we are one big family and we are part of a larger school community.

Some students struggle with daily academic skills, especially those students who find traditional learning activities difficult or who are learning English as their second language. My students need the option of fun, alternative activities and lessons to support their learning styles.

My Project

My school's curriculum requires students to log on to education apps and online programs on a daily basis. In our class we use guided math rotations in order to meet the needs of all types of learners. The tablets will be used at our technology rotation where students use IXL and Front Row for standards based math practice. However, there is not enough technology for all of my students to access these learning tools at the same time. Adding more tablets to our classroom will allow more students to log on to our reading and math apps and online programs at a time. I will be able to teach smaller groups of students, because more students will be able to use our digital learning tools. My students will also be able to take assessments online. The data collected from IXL and Front Row will help me to differentiate lessons, retract skills, and allow me more time to teach!
