This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach a high school special education classroom with students whose needs vary. I love my students immensely and I want to provide them with fun books to read that will encourage them to read independently.
Books are very expensive... and because I cannot afford brand new sets, I often take second hand books.
My students have loved their books deeply (and it shows). Most of our classroom books are falling apart and upwards of 15 years old! I would love to give them some brand new books such as Pete the Cat and other books for this upcoming school year, something new, exciting, and creative!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
