Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Title I elementary school is located in East New York, Brooklyn which is a dynamic neighborhood of many different cultures and people. Our school reflects this diversity in our constantly changing student population. Our students work hard and they are eager and excited to learn.

My new ESL (English as a Second Language) classroom is composed mostly of Bengali and Hispanic students.

I'm challenged to provide a material rich learning environment for those students who are not only dealing with learning second grade curricula but also learning the English language.

I am so excited to be back at school and I'm determined that my students will achieve and succeed!

My Project

I am requesting markers, easel pads, a giant timer, and pocket charts for a rich classroom environment! This year I've been moved to my first dedicated classroom and I'm in great need of the basic classroom and writing supplies. When a classroom is rich in support materials, students can always reference what was previously learned. These learning supports are critical to create visuals for ESL students who are not only learning the different curricula but also learning how to read English.

I'm requesting pocket charts, a giant classroom timer, markers and Post-It easel pads which will be used around my classroom for anchor charts and learning prompts.

These visuals will be a tremendous support for my ESL students this year!
